Daily Issue Tracker - UK House of Commons

about this chart

This list shows the prevalence of policy categories in Oral Answers to Questions (OATQs) in the UK House of Commons. OATQ constitutes the bulk of Commons debate, where ministers respond to questions from backbench MPs on matters of government policy and current issues affecting politics. The data is collected from Hansard, the official record of parliamentary proceedings. The list displays the estimated time spent debating each policy area on the most recent day where MPs are sitting. The list is designed to provide policy analysts with the data to approximate which areas of policy receive the most attention on any given day. More nuanced data on specific policy debates are available on request. To learn more about our methodology and how categories are defined, click here.
